Established in 2022 in East Jerusalem, the Atheer Cultural Centre serves as a vibrant hub dedicated to fostering youth engagement and artistic training, with a strong emphasis on photography and visual storytelling. Our approach includes diverse artistic workshops and informal educational programs designed to enrich the cultural experiences of East Jerusalem's youth, expanding their horizons beyond traditional school curricula. By doing so, we aim to nurture a sense of empowerment, creativity, and self-expression among the local Arab youth in Jerusalem, a community that has faced marginalization for decades.
We aim to provide our youth with the essential skills in media and storytelling, equipping them with the ability to express themselves and advocate for their communities. The Atheer Cultural Centre aspires to become an inclusive art hub that reaches diverse demographics and age groups throughout Jerusalem, leveraging platforms such as cinema, social media, and television to provide individuals with essential tools for personal growth and to promote positive messaging within the youth and the larger community.
"Any form of art is a form of power; it has influence, it can affect change – it can not only move us, but make us move."
